Reset Car Battery - How To Discuss

By William Clark

Reset Car Battery

I want to reconfigure my car's on-board computer, they told me to disconnect both battery terminals. Why not just one? ۔

I am an electrical engineer and I know that electrons need 2 connections for the flow of electricity.

Only answer if you have electronic knowledge.

You are right sir. Many people think they know cars work, but they don't. Electronic theory is usually its weak point.

Removing the battery or not removing the code and the duration of shutdown depends on the manufacture and year of the vehicle. New cars often remember these things. Like a PC, you won't lose all your files just because you log out.

Another consideration is whether or not you have a factory anti-theft radio. In that case, you'll need a reset code to make it work. Even if you have an old style computer, you will forget the best settings you learned to run your N during your best performance. After doing so, do not go to the top of the semifinals for a while until the computer has a chance to re-learn these settings. MDR

Always disconnect the negative pole first and then reconnect or remove the negative pole if necessary. This is because if you are doing this your key hits the chis, it is not pointing to a negative but to a srt number. The change is positive.

To rearrange the information stored on the onboard diagnostic computer, you need to remove the negative pole. The reason is that, after all, everything is connected to the earth. At least that's the theory I learned from technical school.

The recommended time is usually 10 minutes and all the codes are deleted. But here is the PCM (Power Control Module) that works. Depending on which system is difficult, there is a learning cycle. Most vehicles learn the limits of driving and keep them for reference. Sometimes when someone else is driving, the driving style is different and the signal light comes on. The pattern is broken and the computer needs to re-learn the new pattern.

If the indicator light comes on immediately, you have trouble closing the input circuit. This circuit only receives information from various sensors, especially from the temperature sensor, when the car is cold. When the car is at operating temperature (open circuit), many other sensors are included and proper diagnosis should be made through the diagnostic device.

If the indicator light flashes, it means that the PCM is in clean mode and the vehicle should be taken to the workshop immediately.

Note: For best performance when restarting the car computer. Leave the negative pole disconnected for 10 minutes (make sure your car doesn't have radio code, and if it does, it does). After replacing the battery, run 5 to 10 miles as if you have stolen it. This will set the internal parameters in PCM for better acceleration and faster response.

This page can help you.

w How to restart your car computer

Removing the battery is not a real reset for the computer, but if you instruct the computer to temporarily turn off the indicator light, it will always return with the same error, at least if it is "mechanical." The problem is.

To do this you always want to disconnect all power from any device. Even if the device is connected to a connector, you can still create a circuit between the battery and the ground. This is basically what you can do to jump into a car by connecting one wire to the battery and the other to the spark. When you are talking about car batteries here, you do not want to risk creating a circuit that can fry components or itself, so remove two connectors at a time.

You only need to delete one.

As I said, it takes two connections for current to flow. So you already know the answer.

To reconfigure the warning light or trip computer, it is usually enough to disconnect the battery for a few minutes.

I run Fox 2012. I have read that if you unplug both cables and connect them for 1 minute, the computer will restart. I tested it in my car after 2 hours of testing. It worked !!! This prevents the transmission from moving to neutral for no reason while driving.

You can try, but it usually doesn't work. Delete both. This is the only way to restart your computer. You can unplug the battery and leave it on for about 24 hours, it can work, but you still have to use the computer to recharge my battery.
