C2 Jewelry - How To Discuss
C2 Jewelry
Ringtone list? What does C2 Mean? 3
I have a ring that a friend gave me a few years ago. Her grandmother gave her a lot of old jewelry and she gave me the ring. I wonder if these are just jewelry or not. It is gold with diamonds or zircon. Written in 10K C2 groups. I know 10k means 10k gold, but what does C2 mean?
There are three things on decorative tape:
Purity of gold (you got, 10K)
Donor message to recipient.
Atomic or industrial seal.
Possibly C2 is a manufacturer's brand because it has no clear meaning as a meaningful term.
Your real question is whether it is real stone or not. If it is a diamond, it is probably of poor quality. Most jewelers use 14K or more to set a precious diamond. However, if you need a list of tips to help you determine if a stone is a diamond, here is a good list (link to the article below). Some will not work if the settings partially cover the diamond. The real test, of course, is to send it to the diagnostician. But if you don't want to take this step, these tips can help you:
Find scratches. While real diamonds have scratches, chips, dents, etc. Over time, other materials disappear more quickly. If you see a visible sign, keep an eye on it. And if, as a non-gemologist, you can see the visible marks on natural diamonds, expect that the diamond will be much less than the price of Rapaport.
If it falls off easily, place the loose diamond on the paper and try to read the diamond. If you can read the diamond, then it is fake or R (low cut).
Breathe in the diamond as if you were blurring a window. If the fog lasts more than two seconds, it is probably wrong. Repeat the must test on diamond clay, some forging is done with diamond surface and artificial clay.
Place the stones under ultraviolet light (such as light bulbs, try the party store where they are sometimes on display) and observe the blue fluorescence. Medium to strong blue indicates a real diamond. If there is no blue fluorescence, then the diamond is of good quality or forged.
Watch the rock climb. Aspects should be connected with clean lines, not rollers. The strap should be rectangular, not waxy or smooth. Most diamonds have natural internal defects, most counterfeit diamonds do not.
Moisinite, a substitute for an unsecured diamond, shines brightly in outdoor light but is blurred in incandescent light.
To keep costs down, imitation gemstones are often machine-cut rather than handmade. Mae's cut moissanite does not show the hearts and arrows seen in natural diamonds cut by hand.
A jeweler may offer to use a diamond to prove that the diamond is real. Beware, knowing that Moisinite often fools smart diamonds and gems.
When zirconia stones are submerged in water, the gems virtually disappear and natural diamonds are easily seen. Water widens the refraction gap between the two rocks.
Weigh the stone on the scale you trust. Cuc zirconia weighs about 55% more than a diamond.
I think it helps.
